5 Military Reads to Gift This Christmas Season
From WWII gliders to modern intel and spiritual warfare—recommendations from trusted voices in the Military Reading Room community
‘Tis the Christmas season, and many of us are procrastinating our shopping. In our family, my wife does most of our holiday shopping. Our four boys are grown, starting families of their own, but now we get the joy of grandchildren around the holiday season. My shopping is usually limited to finding something for my wife; I’m not very good at shopping. However, I’ve started a tradition of gifting a book each year to my adult sons. Two years ago, I bought each of them a copy of Ryan Holiday’s The Daily Stoic. Last year, I bought them a copy of On Mission: Your Journey To Authentic Leadership by John Buford and Sean Georges. John and I were officer candidates together in the Marine Corps PLC program back when we were all still studying Soviet Motorized Rifle Regiments.
