This week’s Military Journals roundup continues with a look at Naval Warfare. In case you missed our kick-off journal roundup last week, MRR is adjusting our approach to military journals by breaking these roundups into a weekly rotation: Military Thought & Future Battlespace, Naval Warfare, Land Warfare, and Air Warfare.
For this week, what stood out to me was how the Navy needs to embrace change to remain competitive. Change in maritime strategy, change in adapting emerging technology, and change in pulling it all together in a coherent operating concept that is focused on capability and mission success, and not mired in incremental and disjointed use of new technologies. The pace of change is not just accelerating, it is exposing gaps in how the Navy thinks, organizes, and fights. The operating environment is changing rapidly, and so are adversaries. Winning is a narrow margin.
But to fully understand and absorb the authors’ arguments, one needs to get beyond our synopsis here, get beyond the headlines, and dive in to inform your own perspective. We invite you to read on…
